Two of my favorite pastimes - Exploring and Photography.

Put them together = my passion for sharing the places that I've been.

When I'm not working, I love spending time with my family and friends. Taking photos of the places that

we've been, and that I've been, is one of the best ways for me to unwind and create lasting memories.

The photos that I offer are originals, taken at some of the most beautiful places that I've visited and explored.

Available in many unique products. ENJOY!

Railroad history enthusiasts will be transported into the heart of the action through the real-life stories of Retired SP/UP Engineer John Cockrell. His vivid accounts celebrate the rich legacy of the SP/UP Railroad, offering a front-row seat to life on the locomotive.

JOHN COCKRELL SP/UP Retired Engineer

My wife calls me, Mr. RailroadTM

Sharing my 45 year railroad experiences is my PASSION!

I want people to know what it was like to work for the railroad - how the railroad operates, what the crews go through, how the railroad changed since I hired on - until I retired. Most people see a train as a cool thing, but they don't have a clue as to what goes on behind the scenes.

My railroad career began when I was hired in engine service for the Southern Pacific Railroad on my 18th birthday, 1955.

I started as a Fireman, and promoted to Engineer in 1971. I was one of the few employees hired in engine service that started by firing steam engines and retired as an employee operating up to 6,000 horsepower computer-controlled General Electric diesel locomotives, with just under 2,000,000 compensated miles.
